In Week 4, the team at Marina Bay Lombok carried out extensive on-site drilling to support structural planning and assess groundwater availability.

The main goal of this phase was two-fold:

• To analyse subsurface soil density and strength, informing how foundations should be designed
• To evaluate groundwater conditions and identify suitable depths for future bore wells

A series of standard penetration tests (SPT) were completed across key zones, giving engineers real-time feedback on soil composition. Simultaneously, deeper bore testing began — with screens and casing layouts designed to access fresh groundwater while avoiding saline intrusion (as shown in the aquifer diagram).

This work is essential for long-term infrastructure planning, especially in tropical environments where both water access and soil stability must be carefully managed.
From here, the engineering team can finalise foundation designs and prepare for the next phase of vertical villa construction.
